Monitored and controlled from our central operations facility in Solihull, these flexible assetsdeliver electricity to the national grid, helping to balance the UK energy system and ensure reliable power for homes and businesses.Position Overview:The role of Senior Environmental Compliance Manager exists to provide expert advice and support to the business on environmental regulatory affairs, environmental sustainability management practices and planning / development consent order applications.The role reports to our UK Head of HSEQ and will manage a small team comprising an Environmental Senior Technical Manager and Environment Specialists across the Wilton and Flex businesses.The post holder will act as a key liaison with the Environment Agency for all environmental permitting matters, environmental planning and will ensure that we maintain our Environmental Management System to ISO14001 by working closely with the operationalteams and the auditors.Key Responsibilities:Supporting the UK Head of HSEQ in the operation of SEUKs health, safety, security, environment and quality management system, along with helping to achieve HSSEQ strategic objectives.Providing environmental support to the business both technically and legislatively, through a thorough understanding of existing and upcoming environmental legislation and its impact to the business.Developing networks and attending industry working groups to remain informed of developments within the UK environmental legislative / regulatory space which could impact on SEUKs operations, taking action to influence potential outcomes as required.Working with key business partners to set and review short and long-term environment and sustainability related objectives and targets.Tracking and prioritising key environment and sustainability risks to ensure appropriate business response to emerging trends, relevant legislation and raising awareness of business risks and opportunities.Providing Environmental compliance updates to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).Assisting in the development of a communication strategy to engage colleagues and external stakeholders, ensuring that they are informed of SEUKs approach, successes & future commitments related to environmental management and sustainability.Coordinating / leading all environmental event and incident investigations, ensuring that these are appropriately investigated with actions captured and tracked to completion through SEUKs monitoring and reporting processes.Managing the routine engagement process with regulatory agencies and assisting the UK Head of HSEQ in the environmental stakeholder management process.Requirements:A relevant degree (Environmental Sciences) or equivalent (NEBOSH Diploma in Environmental Management) would be desirable.Chartered Environmentalist and member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) or working towardsStrong environmental compliance management experience gained from a regional or national level role with function accountability is a mustExperience of influencing, recommending and supporting an executive team or Board to make business decisions with environmental compliance in mind is essentialExperience of working closely with the relevant UK regulators is essentialExperience gained from the Petrochemical, Power Generation or Utilities industries is essentialPrior experience of supporting group wide business integration from an environmental perspective is preferredA full driving licence is a mustRight to work in the UK is essentialBenefits:Competitive basic salary dependent on experienceDiscretionary performance-based bonus26 days annual leave plus bank holidaysStakeholder Pension SchemePrivate Health InsuranceGroup Income Protection SchemeLife AssuranceFlexible workingTraining and Development
