Job Description

Senior BuyerLocation: Teesside - Wilton (Occasional travel may be involved)Salary: Negotiable - Whilst all salaries are graded, Sembcorp are keen to attract, retain and develop the highest calibre of colleague.Hours: 08:30am - 16:30pm - Monday - FridayPosition overview:Working as a Senior Buyer, you will be responsible for the procurement of a diverse range of high value, complex engineering & maintenance services that are essential to support the operational needs of the business. Your role will focus primeraly on Maintenance,Repair & Overhaul (MRO) services. Such service agreements may include but not be limited to Compressors, mobile cranes, gas engines, Turbines, Balance of Plant (Motors, Valves, Pumps), Civils and other. You will be required to manage MRO categories delegatedto you from cradle to grave, tendering, awarding, and managing term contracts addressing spend, mitigating business risk, negotiating cost savings, and managing supplier performance.Reporting to the Procurement & Contracts Manager, our busy national portfolio offers a myriad of planned and unplanned challenges for an experienced, highly motivated, hard-working, and committed individual who is capable of making a positive contributionto the teams objectives.Responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including, but not limited to, Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations to draft specifications, work scopes, and commercial pricing strategies.
  • Undertaking sourcing exercises to continually drive improvements in innovation, efficiency, cost, quality, delivery lead times and service, ensuring best fit with Sembcorp ESG (Environmental, Social & corporate Governance).
  • Conduct due diligence on suppliers and ensure that all new suppliers undergo appropriate assessment and evaluation prior to approval.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to plan, execute, and manage competitive tenders in accordance with agreed strategies and group policy.
  • Undertake cost and price breakdown analysis of tenders returned/ proposals received.
  • Negotiate favourable terms and conditions, and pricing with suppliers.
  • Draft contract agreements and seek approval for contract award in accordance with internal controls and protocols.
  • Where appropriate, and if necessary, negotiate service agreements with single source OEM suppliers.
  • Manage the approved suppliers and build and maintain strong supplier relationships process.
  • Conduct periodic supplier performance reviews with contract owners and take ownership for commercial obligations concerning all such contracts.
  • Manage supplier relationships to drive continuous improvement in service levels and cost.
  • Process Purchase Requisitions in your category and release Purchase Orders from approved Purchase Requisitions via SAP.
Requirements
  • Must have more than 5 years experience of tendering and managing Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul services.
  • Must have more than 5 years experience of working in a process industry Procurement team.
  • Must be CIPS (Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply) qualified.
  • Have a strong track record of delivering cost savings and improvements in service delivery.
  • Possess an understanding of Terms and Conditions.
  • A Team working ability
  • The ability to communicate proficiently both orally and written at all levels
  • Must be proficient in the use of M/soft packages.
Desirable
  • SAP experience / ERP system experience
  • IOSH Managing Safely
