Job Description

JOB OVERVIEWWe are seeking to appoint a highly motivated secondary Maths Teacher, who is also happy to teach some other subjects such as ICT and Humanities. The majority of our students are Key Stage 3 land 4 level and we are looking for a passionate teacher to joinour thriving and unique school. The successful applicant will be required to teach at all levels from functional skills through to GCSE, with guidance provided for subjects that you are not so familiar with.WHY CHOOSE USThe Beech House School is an independent Good-rated school based in West Molesey. We cater for looked after young people in residential care with emotional and behavioural difficulties. We are a very small school with 6 children on roll, which is why thisrole will be varied and will require some flexibility in approach. Our school is set in a lovely neighbourhood and is adjoined to the Beech House residential home. You will have the opportunity to work alongside a great but small team of teachers and the carestaff team to observe and share practice on a regular basis, developing pedagogy through reflection. JOB REQUIREMENTS:

QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).
A 2:1 or above in maths (desirable)
1 year teaching experience, although we would accept ECTs.

The ability to teach Maths across a range of levels
A passion for Maths and a commitment to integrating it across the curriculum.
The ability to teach some ICT skills and develop an appropriate curriculum aligned to this.
The ability to teach some humanities and develop an appropriate curriculum aligned to this.
A high expectation for teaching and learning for learners of all abilities
Forward thinking and receptive to change and able to work with the team.
A detailed knowledge of the curriculum and its means of delivery.
The ability to work towards deadlines.
Willingness to work alongside residential staff to provide best outcomes for our children
The resilence to work with children who have experienced trauma and has an understanding of behaviours being a form of communication including self-harming behaviours.
A water off a ducks back approach to adverse behaviours including willingness to physically intervene (training will be provided), although this is a rarity in our current setting
Ability to work alongside clear boundaries outlined in our risk assessments
Has compassion and versatility in their approach to teaching - a nature ability to think outside the box
