Reporting directly to the Contracts Managers and also working with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to ensure effective management procedures are adhered to and to ensure the safe delivery of schemes of work. You will also support the delivery and development of the company’s business in the South East region. Forging relationships built on trust and delivery, with both colleagues and customers, you will assume overall responsibility for the equipment, vehicles, maintenance, hire, fuel, planning and profit and loss for the depot.Liaising with the SLT contributes largely to your role. You will work with them daily to coordinate resources and to ensure all company Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental policies are implemented. Driving the A Cones/ Chevron culture is paramount. To complement this, you will be required to carry out audits of vehicles, the office and the depot. You will also work closely with the TM supervisor learning processes including the ERP system.The Depot Controller role is a busy and varied one. Your tasks and responsibilities will be everchanging but will include: managing and distributing PPE, sign manufacture, ensuring job packs are completed and submitted, managing stock and stock requests, briefing staff on current safety alerts, campaigns, toolbox talks and contract methodology, management of vehicle records - including vehicle checks, reporting defects, logging vehicle movements and the collation of drivers hours. You will take pride in the depot and will manage operatives, ensuring that it is clean and tidy at all times, as well as maintaining vehicle cleanliness.Reports and record keeping are also key to this role. You will compile monthly reports for the SLT and will also share in the chairing monthly management meetings, recording minutes and distributing in a timely manner. As and when required you will be expected to undertake accident investigations, insurance claims and undertake disciplinary’s.Conducting D&A tests, both planned and by random selection will also be under your remit, as well as carrying out any other appropriate duties as assigned by the SLT. As a valued member of the Management team, ideas to improve efficiencies, enhance margin and aid depot growth and development will be welcomed.About You:A highly motivated leader with extensive knowledge of the Traffic Management industry, you will be pro-active and be able to act safely and efficiently at all times. A fantastic communicator, you easily relate to Senior Managers, Customers and Operatives. You thrive creating new relationships and understand customer demand to drive the business forward. You are active in your own personal development and also excel in managing and leading your team to perform their duties to the highest possible standard.Qualifications & Skills:Essential:

  • 5 years previous demonstrable experience of the traffic management industry either practical TM experience or experience of working in the highway maintenance sector.
  • Previous experience in a similar position.
  • Qualified to a minimum of a foreman level or TTME.
  • Basic commercial understanding, with relevant capability to expand knowledge.
  • Proficient in the use of a PC, Microsoft Office suite of software and ability to work with other business management systems.
  • An open mind to new innovations and their application within the digital world.
  • An ability to network and create business relationships.
  • Essential to have the interpersonal skills to be able to interface successfully with a wide range of people both within and outside the company.
  • An ability to work within a high performing, fast-moving team.
  • Highly motivated and willing to work flexibly to suit the needs of the business.
  • Needs to have all round technical understanding of activities involved within business area
  • Understanding and delivering stakeholder requirements
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Desirable:
  • Competent in the use of TM design CAD Software.
  • Other formal commercial or business management qualifications.
  • Evidence to support process driven capabilities
