Job Description

Do you have experience supporting autistic adultsWe are looking for an ambitious Support Worker to join our team and help us expand our support services.The Autism Support Service enables autistic adults to maintain employment, independence and social skills in a range of settings.We are the trading arm of The Autism Directory Charity who are based in Treforest, South Wales and who have a unique staff team and approach to all things autism. With over 60% of our staff being diagnosed autistic we have a unique insight into the condition.One of the charities projects is working with autistic adults to help them get into employment and supporting them in work. We provide training to autistic adults at local Job Centres to help them get job ready and find them employment. We then provide support in the workplace to ensure they get the best opportunities to excel at their role.The Autism Support Service are looking for Support Workers with experience in autism, to work with a dynamic out of the box thinking team to deliver in-work support to autistic adults.Job Role:To provide support work to autistic adults, specifically:

  • To provide bespoke, person centred support in accordance with their individual support needs.
  • Identify needs and outcomes and supporting their progress towards them.
  • Keep all documentation up to date, stored securely, detailing support needed and provided on a daily basis, including hours, outcomes and progress.
  • Hold regular supervision meetings with individuals and monitor trends, identify risks and raise issues with management.
  • Have regular supervision of support work provided.
  • Additionally:The successful candidate will have:
  • Knowledge of autism and its co-morbid conditions
  • Previous support experience with autistic adults
  • Exceptional patience and listening skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and proven ability to prioritise
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Good analytical and reasoning abilities
  • ICT literate, including Microsoft Office Applications
  • Ability to work alone and self motivate
  • Clean DBS
