Clinic Postcode: TN10Position: Registered Veterinary NurseSalary: 27k - 35k pounds per annumHours: 40 Hours a weekResponsibilities as a Registered Veterinary Nurse :

• Nursing care for a variety of animal species: cats, dogs, and small animals
• Undertaking nursing duties in various healthcare settings: theatre, hospital, nurse consultations, and euthanasia procedures, following specific guidance
• Administering treatments including injections, medications, fluid therapy, dressings, first aid, euthanasia, and minor surgical procedures within approved protocols
• Ensuring infection control through thorough and regular cleaning of hospital premises, equipment, and animal living spaces
• Maintaining precise and current clinical records
• Conducting on-site laboratory diagnostic tests, recording and packaging lab samples for shipping
• Dispensing medications according to professional guidelines and hospital policies
• Monitoring and restocking consulting rooms, the hospital, theater, and imaging suite as instructed
• Providing both physical and emotional support to clients in sensitive situations, showing empathy and understanding of their needs
• Assisting with telephone and general reception duties, including processing payments
• Utilizing in-house data system resources and appointment scheduling (PMS), such as PetsApp
• Contributing to practice marketing initiatives, events like puppy parties, and open days, as appropriate
• Promoting the practices preventive animal healthcare philosophy
• Adhering to a rotational duty schedule, including out of hours work, Saturday morning shifts, and some bank holidays
• Engaging in ongoing professional and personal development relevant to the role
• Supporting team development initiatives as a practice that provides training for nurses
• Assisting with duties at other Pennard Practices as needed, especially during staff absences due to sickness or annual leave
• Qualifying and practicing as a clinical coach

Requirements as a Registered Veterinary Nurse:

• Hold a Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing or an equivalent qualification recognized by the RCVS, or be enrolled in an RCVS-approved training course.
• Be registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) as a veterinary nurse, showcasing good knowledge of animal care and nursing procedures.
• Demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, along with empathy and compassion towards animals and their owners, ability to work under pressure, and willingness to engage in continuing professional development (CPD). Flexibilityin working hours, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, is also a requirement.
