Job Description

Personal AdvisorJob Title: Personal AdvisorLocation: TivertonSalary: £17 umbrella an hourDuration: Initially 3 monthsHours: 37 hours a weekAbout the CompanyDevon County Council is committed to supporting and improving the life chances of young people living in and leaving local authority care. They are dedicated to promoting and improving their life chances, safety, accommodation needs, education and employment,finance and independence skills.About the RoleThe Personal Advisor will be responsible for providing high quality and effective social care support to young people and young adults. The successful candidate will have a natural ability to develop trusting and supportive relationships with young peoplebetween the ages of 16-25 years who are living in or leaving care. As a Personal Advisor, you will manage and monitor a workload of cases as directed, and ensure that statutory and service responsibilities are undertaken within timescales.Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality and effective social care support to young people and young adults
  • Develop trusting and supportive relationships with young people between the ages of 16-25 years who are living in or leaving care
  • Manage and monitor a workload of cases as directed

  • Identify the needs of young people, families and carers
  • Implement service plans on the basis of assessed needs
Requirements
  • Experience of direct work with young people, families and carers
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation including the Children Act (1989), The Children Leaving Care Act (2000) and have a sound understanding of child and adolescent development and the particular difficulties and disadvantages associated with transition toadulthood for children in care
  • A flexible approach to working hours
  • Willingness to travel around the county and to other parts of the country when required
