Job Description

Osborne Appointments are recruiting for a Stock Support/Yard Op for a client based in Thurleigh.Based in their Head Office in Thurleigh, Bedford they are seeking a dynamic individual to join the company as Stock Controller. This role involves overall responsibility of stock management and would suit a candidate from a similar role, particularlya self-starter able to work with a small but committed & experienced team. Previous stock management experience is needed for this key role.You will be responsible for looking after the overall stock control for the organisation including ensuring necessary stock counts are conducted and that best practice stock movement procedures are in place to drive high levels of stock accuracy.The Stock Controller will prepare reports and advise management on strategies to reduce cost and improve procedures. You will maintain an accurate inventory database that includes detailed information on stock levels and equipment condition.Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Utilise agreed systems (bespoke stock management software) to manage stock control functions, analysis and documenting.
  • Investigating and analysing any stock issues, sharing knowledge of investigation, supporting the team, and demonstrating a united approach between Stock Control and the wider business operation.
  • Producing products trends based on stock movement.
  • Ensuring sufficient stock available ahead of project deadlines.
  • Ordering of stock items from multiple suppliers/obtaining quotes.
  • Providing precise and accurate results to investigation, analysing trends of stock issues and how to implement procedures to minimise inaccurate stock holding.
  • Generating reports for review to ensure physical and actual stock levels remain synchronised so that stock forecasting and utilisation can be carried out.
  • Liaise with operational management to all aspects of inventory control.
  • To support the operations team by conducting investigations and dealing with stock related queries to ensure that that efficient service is provided.
  • Other tasks in support of the operations team as requested/directed.
  • Responsible for highlighting any potential quality, damage or stock issues to the Operations Manager.
  • The role is part of the whole organisation team and as such requires you to perform such reasonable tasks that are required, as and when are necessary, to maintain, promote, develop and expand the business of our organisation and its interests generally.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to communicate any issues and concerns at all levels. Strong team player and aware of individual impact and contribution to the business.
  • Works well under pressure in a fast moving and demanding environment.
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to work under own initiative with limited supervision.
  • Experience of working in a stock management role.
  • Working with data and numbers will be essential and supported by excellent IT skills and knowledge of MS Office applications, especially Excel.
  • Critical thinking skills with the ability to analyse data and establish the correct conclusions for continuous improvement.
  • An understanding of how to investigate stock problems.
  • Self-motivated & reliable, with ability to prioritise and remain focused.
  • Excellent numeracy and organisational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
Desirable Experience
  • Stock management experience with a strong background in stock control.
  • Counter-Balance Forklift Licence.
Working Hours:Mon-Fri 08.00-16.30 (additional hours required as per the needs of the business).Salary Range- £11.00 - £12.50 dependant on experience
