Job Description

Learning Support Assistant37.5 hours per week, Monday to FridayUp to £17,675 per annum, dependent on experience and qualificationsI am looking for a capable LSA for a highly-esteemed school in Thornbury. This wonderful residential school provides a holistic Waldorf-Steiner style education for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.About you:

  • Experience working within a similar role with children and young people with challenging behaviour
  • Maths and English qualifications at GCSE Grade C or above
  • A relevant qualification, an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) preferred
  • Excellent communication skills and patience
  • A keen interest and skills in supporting pupils’ learning across a broad curriculum; in the classroom, in craft workshops (green woodwork, pottery and handwork), in the swimming pool, outdoors in the school grounds and within the local community.
  • Driving licence desirable - due to location
  • About the Job:
  • Facilitate learning across the broad curriculum and to facilitate the building of positive and appropriate relationships with peers. This may mean dealing with some challenging behaviour.
  • To assist the class teacher in delivering pupils’ education. This includes contributing to planning and preparation of differentiated resources and individual instruction.
  • Support the class by working with individual pupils or small groups, with primary responsibility for an allocated pupil.
