Job Description

Class Teacher, ThornburyUp to £34,900 per annum, dependent on relevant experience and qualifications40 hours per week working 8:30 to 17:00, Monday to FridayAre you ready for a different way of educating Keen to work within a setting that truly meets the needs of pupils with special educational needsThis innovative residential school provides holistic and therapeutic education for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities using the principles of the Steiner Waldorf curriculum. About you:

  • Experience working as a teacher within an SEN educational setting
  • Experience with children and young people with SEN and challenging behaviour
  • Educated to degree level in Education or Teaching (with QTS)
  • Waldorf qualification/experience and/or willingness to learn and incorporate in practice
  • Creative and positive nature
  • Excellent communication and IT skills
  • Driving licence desirable - due to location
  • About the role:
  • Identify specific individual needs and interests of your students
  • Plan and deliver an appropriate curriculum to all pupils in your class, following the ethos of the school, making the most of the site and resources
  • Provide effective teaching and a therapeutic, safe, stimulating and supportive learning environment
  • Encourage pupils to build positive and appropriate relationships with peers and adults
  • Facilitate learning in a wide range of settings, including the classroom, craft sessions, swimming and outdoor break times
  • Plan for and manage occurrences of challenging behaviour (in line with individual student plans)
