Job Description

My client, a forward thinking and customer focused business, is looking for an experienced SHEQ Advisor to join their team. The main purpose of the role is to support the Operations Director in the development of a strategy to shape the SHEQ function within the company. Working closely with the management team to deliver the SHEQ strategy and drive a culture of continuous improvement.Responsibilities:-

  • Assist the Operations Director in determining the strategic direction and work priorities for continuous improvement of the SHEQ Management programme and systems.
  • Support the Operations Director in driving and improving Health & Safety standards across the company to meet 18001 standards (work towards gaining 18001 accreditation).
  • Support the Operations Director in driving and improving environmental / sustainability standards meeting ISO 14001 standards.
  • Assist the Operations Director in producing quality management systems meeting ISO 9001 standards.
  • With the Operations Director, develop quarterly SHEQ Communication Strategy for all sites including tool box talks.
  • Assist with the implementation of new or existing SHEQ-related legislation, rules and company standards to include fire prevention, health and safety awareness training, site inspections.
  • In conjunction with the Operations Director ensure accident reporting meets RIDDOR requirements and risk assessments are completed as appropriate.
  • Assist in the investigation and management of incidents providing advice on root causation and best preventative measures.
  • In conjunction with the Operations Director, ensure a robust internal audit process is in place.
  • Under the guidance of the Operations Director, carry out internal audits to show compliance.
  • In conjunction with the Operations Director, ensure Certification Body (currently BSI) and industry audits are carried out as scheduled.
  • With the direction from the Operations Director, develop systems that will ensure that the site safety management system is fit for purpose.
  • This is a great opportunity to develop your career with study support on offer. The ideal candidate must have at least 1 years’ experience preferably in a manufacturing or workshop environment, working within a quality framework. You should demonstrate the ability to review and improve workplace practices and conduct internal and external audits. Possessing a good working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, you will also have strong analytical abilities and a high level of attention to detail. Required skills
