Job Description

The CompanyNigel Wright are pleased to be working with a food manufacturing business that are looking to recruit a Quality Manager.The RoleThe Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring all products and services meet customer requirements by the implementation and maintenance of the company systems and procedures and by ensuring products are appropriately tested prior to dispatch. Leading thesite quality team, the Quality Manager ensures compliance with BRC regulatory and customer standards.You will typically work 5 out of 7 days each week but need to remain flexible to cover others in the quality team. Duties & responsibilities:

  • Supporting the factory team to ensure quality standards are maintained for all products and the production environment in general
  • To manage the daily activities of the QAs and QCs ensuring the best possible quality is maintained. To be accountable for their actions.
  • To manage the internal traceability system to ensure that all products are fully traceable.
  • To ensure there are up to date product quality standards on each line for all products and that they are being adhered to.
  • To ensure policies and procedures relating to quality, food safety and H&S are being adhered to.
  • To effectively manage the complaints process and making the Technical manager aware of progress/issues.
  • To identify areas for improvement and seek to improve upon processes/practices in the factory and the QMS.
  • To support production in solving issues and making decisions on quality/Food safety (escalating to Technical Manager if necessary).
  • To conduct internal audits against the agreed schedule.
  • To ensure all micro testing is carried out against the schedule and that retests on adverse results are effectively managed
  • To ensure that calibration of equipment is maintained internally and externally inclusive of chemical dosing, temp probes and scales etc.
  • Completion of all necessary paperwork within the QMS. Ensure that those employees responsible for paperwork completion are fully trained and competent.
  • Cover the absence of QAs with regards to GMP/daily checks.
  • Communicate with suppliers with regards to non-conformances. Ensure that non-conformances are followed up, effective corrective actions are agreed and repeat issues are dealt with.
  • Carry out new employee inductions and training as necessary.
  • Attend management review meetings where necessary and be prepared with previous weeks issues/corrective actions.
  • To ensure non-conformances raised are followed up and closed off being that from GMP, taste panels or internal non-conformances.
RequirementsIn order to be considered for this role, you must be able to demonstrate the following:
  • Experience of working in a food environment is advantageous
  • Prior experience in a quality assurance or management role.
  • A natural abilityto set an example to other employees
  • A flexible attitude, witha positive attitude to work.
  • Ability to work weekends and bank holidays, where required
