Job Description

Annual salary: up to £29,000.00 Mears Housing Management is a successful business within Mears Group PLC, having grown in 5 years to a nationally based management business with 12,000 homes and contracts with 50 Local Authorities and Central Government. We are proud of the services we provide and with ambitious plans to continue this rapid growth, we are looking for skilled Gas Engineers from our Hub in Tannochside to help benefit the lives of their local community across the Glasgow area. While working in accordance to the relevant Safety Regulations and departmental procedures, you will have to carry out comprehensive gas maintenance and installation service within domestic premises. This is a great opportunity within our Housing Management business, following the success of the Asylum Accommodation and Support Contract win.As part of the new Contract Win, you will form part of a highly skilled, qualified and professional team of Gas Engineers responsible for maintaining and repairing central heating boilers and other heat producing appliances relevant to the contract. You will maintaining and repairing the ancillary equipment associated with central heating installations such as pumps, tanks, valves and water pipework. Other duties include

  • Carry out programmed and maintenance and servicing in domestic premises together with the provision of accurate records in relation to the work undertaken.
  • Measure for fittings and listing necessary materials.
  • Maintain and replenish vehicle imprest stock.
  • Collection and delivery of materials.
  • Erect use and dismantle access equipment.
  • Be prepared to act as a mentor to trainees within the organisation and encourage a learning environment.
  • Obtain, where requested, Customer feedback on completion of works.
  • You will asked to undertake some multi skilled duties as and when deemed necessary
  • This role is a Full Time role of 40 hours per week. Hours of work would be across a 7 day shift pattern covering 8am to 8pm Mon - Fri & 8am - 4.30pm Sat & Sun. There is a call out rota ..What are we looking for
  • In order to be successful in this role, it is essential that you are gas qualified and hold current Domestic ACS in the categories of work required.
  • You will have completed your NVQ2 and NVQ3 in plumbing and heating, will be gas safe registered and will possess installation experience.
  • With appropriate experience of working in the Gas Industry in relation to the installation and maintenance of gas appliances, you will be able to demonstrate the following -
  • Thorough working knowledge of the safety procedures required to carry out the work and will also have the ability to understand and interpret work instructions, drawings and work in line with our current standards.
  • The ability to trace, diagnose and rectify faults.
  • The ability to establish and maintain good customer/client relationships.
  • The ability to communicate on a one-to-one basis and produce information in a written form, including completion of necessary work documentation.
  • You will also have the ability to work with the minimum of supervision as part of a team, aswell as being customer focused, with good communication, decision making & problem solving and organisational Skills
