Job Description

A special school in Rotherham are seeking a full-time Teaching Assistant from September 2022.The school is located in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, and caters for the needs of learners aged 5-16 years with moderate learning difficulties, Autism Spectrum Conditions and complex needs. All pupils have an Education Health Care Plan which outlines theirlearning, social, emotional and personal care needs.We are ideally seeking a Teaching Assistant with previous experience supporting education for young people with additional needs. Applications will also be considered from those with personal experience of SEND, or a background in Health and Social Care.The successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Establishing good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and being aware of and responding appropriately to individual needs
  • Attending to pupils personal needs including social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid and welfare matters
  • Supervising and supporting pupils, ensuring their safety and access to learning
  • Supporting pupils to access learning activities as directed by the teacher and in line with their individual learning plans or targets
  • Delivering pre-planned programmes of work to children using personalised strategies to support reluctant learners to engage and achieve learning goals/objectives
We are seeking a Teaching Assistant with the ability to respond calmly to challenging situations, and who can use their initiative to respond effectively to unexpected or unplanned situations or reactions throughout the school day.As a Teaching Assistant, you will work with small groups of pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, and you will support them throughout the school day. In addition to supporting access to learning, you be required to meet childrensholistic needs, provide support and assistance during break and lunch times. Due to the complexity of pupil needs, you may also be required to support with feeding and/or personal care.The successful applicant will join an established team of specialist teaching staff, teaching assistants, and an in-house therapy team. As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the multi-disciplinary team, and implement a range of programmes underthe direction of key therapy staff.To work as a Teaching Assistant with Provide Education, you must hold a valid DBS with Update Service registration (or be willing to complete a new application), and a Safeguarding certificate at a minimum of Level One (or complete the training).To register as a Teaching Assistant with Provide Education and apply for this role, please submit your CV using the application links provided, or contact the SEND Team today.
