Job Description

Job Title: New Product Introduction EngineerSalary: £40,000 - £50,000 (depending on experience)Location: StudleyContract: Permanent Hours: 39 hours per week - MonThurs: 08:0016:30, Friday: 08:0015:30Overall purpose of role: The Project Engineer will be responsible for processing NPI projects through a structured gated system and will engage internal and external resources to ensure projects are delivered on time, cost, and quality and in line with project requirements/objectives.They will report directly to Programme Manager. Key responsibilities:

  • Manage the allocated project through structured gated process from concept/quotation to production-handover.
  • Plan, coordinate, implement and finalise projects according to specifications and deadlines, while maintaining the project performance indices i.e. Quality, Cost & Delivery
  • Technical decisions/guidance and flow down of projects requirements to Suppliers. These include (but not limited to); tool and fixture manufacturing designs, machining requirements, drawings, CAD models, Contract/Condition of Supply requirements.
  • Support of production line tooling and equipment to support manufacturing processes.
  • Lead team meetings to facilitate communication between organisations and functions as required meeting program timing objectives.
  • Carry out process validation for new/existing manufacturing processes to meet customer requirements. Use of FMEA activities.
  • Preparation of Control documents/work instructions and provide technical support to production departments when necessary.
  • With help of Calibration Technician, perform SPC study to understand the process trend and agree mitigation plans.
  • Manage FPA (Fixed Process Documentation) and Product qualification documentation for various clients.
  • Generate and issue ISIR reports and manage PPAP process (if applicable)
  • Act with integrity, competence and respect towards colleagues and customers.
People Management:
  • To be able to liaise with customers in a professional manner.
Skills & Attributes:
  • A passion for creating robust and reliable products.
  • Strong verbal and written communicationskills.
  • Ability to manage projects and chair project review meetings.
  • Ability to understand and communicate technical data and specifications.
  • Profound manufacturing, quality and process background.
Qualification and Experience:
  • A degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline preferably Manufacturing, but other engineering sectors will also be considered.
  • At least 3+ years experience in Engineering and/or Manufacturing role is preferred.
  • Interpretation of drawings (ASME and ISO) & GD &T, technical specifications, and product control documentation.
  • Knowledge of Electronic Design for Testing and manufacturing would be advantageous.
  • Flexibility to travel & a clean driving licence.
H&S Training required for the role:
  • Ensuring that the correct PPE is worn when handling parts.
