Job Description

To work as part of the Financial Control team and be responsible for the strong day to day management of the general ledger and the financial processing environment. The Financial Control team maintains the SAP finance system, and provides financial reporting, cashflow forecasting, invoice processing, payment, fixed asset and tax management services - our client will consider applications from newly qualified candidates.2. Principal Accountabilities

  • Maintaining the general ledger, including full regular reconciliation of all Balance Sheet accounts
  • Prepare the periodic management accounts including relevant P&L and Balance Sheet commentary.
  • Manage the annual statutory accounts process including completion of all reporting submissions.
  • Be the key point of contact for the external auditors to ensure satisfactory audit clearance and supporting Internal Audit and other investigation / audit functions as required.
  • Manage the preparation and submission of quarterly forecasts, annual budgets and business plans in accordance with the group timetable, policies and formation. Provide commentary of expenditure against budgets and forecasts when required.
  • Providing accounting support for the (registered Charity) and assist with the close-out of the Charity.
  • When required, assist in the preparation and maintenance of the Cash forecasts
  • Business partnering for several smaller directorates including responsibility for the monitoring of spend vs budget, identifying risks and opportunities and periodic reforecasting of cost. Ensure delivery of accurate, realistic and detailed budgets that are consistent with overall financial position.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant corporation, capital gains and value added tax rules, optimising the tax outcomes where possible.
  • Maintaining the strong internal control environment and identifying process improvements where appropriate.
  • Managing the Accounts Receivable process including issuing invoices and maintaining a record of ageing and any required provisions.
  • Ensuring our exposure to fraud as a result of vulnerability of financial control is minimised.
  • To assist in other duties as necessary that may be required within the organisation.

  • 5. Person Specification
  • Educated to degree level with a good academic record.
  • A recognised accountancy qualification, with a focus on financial accounting.
  • Post qualification experience desirable although not essential.
  • Strong technical accounting skills, and experience of the production of statutory accounts, management accounts and financial performance reporting.
  • Experience of major corporate accounting systems, ideally SAP.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Exemplary, structured verbal and written communication skills with an ability to make complex information (including financial information) easy to understand based on empathy for the audience.
