Job Description

A new and upcoming care organisation are seeking a Service Manager for a supported living service in Alsager, Cheshire. The service will provide high quality care for people with enduring Mental Health conditions and some drug and alcohol abuse. They need someonewho has a track record as a manager in supported living services, particularly with an understanding of a flats model/self-contained apartments.This company are based across the North of England, who are a value driven and experienced team committed to finding innovative ways of supporting people to live the life they choose in a home of their choosing. The support packages they offer are tailoredand flexible and they can offer support to people with a variety of different needs: Mental Health, Substance Misuse, learning disability and/or Autism/Aspergers, Acquired Brain Injury, Physical Disability and Sensory Impairment.Key Responsibilities of a Service Manager:

  • As a skilled leader you will be responsible for the overall supervision, quality assurance, monitoring, regulatory requirements and day to day management of staff.
  • To plan, manage and co-ordinate the work of a team to ensure the optimum use of resources and the delivery of effective support for vulnerable people in the community.
  • To provide advice and guidance to staff. To mentor and induct new starters and be the first point of contact in the response to complaints/enquiries.
  • To manage risks, supporting the team to enable people to maximise their potential.
  • To liaise internally and externally and work with colleagues from other agencies to share best practice and knowledge and ensure clients achieve optimum outcomes.
  • To line manage staff to deliver a service of excellence, ensuring that the service capacity is maximised at all times. Managing any instances of poor performance and taking the first steps in absence management.
Service Manager Requirements:
  • Health and social care qualification relevant to the role (ie NVQ L3 or CQF L3 Certificate) or equivalent and relevant qualification.
  • Knowledge and experience of working with the relevant client group and understanding of the relevant requirements of this type of service
  • Ability to supervise staff, to monitor their performance and if necessary, take correct action and/or escalate.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills; able to roster staff on shift patterns optimising the use of all resource.
  • A basic understanding of HR policies relating to the management of staff (Performance management, Appraisals, Absence management, Capability management etc)
