Job Description

Your new employerRK Accountancy is currently working with a leading service business in Stoke and is recruiting an experienced Senior Payroll Officer.Your main duties and requirements in this new jobThe main focus of this role is administer and process multiple staff payroll and pension schemes in line with company policies and ensuring compliance with all legislative requirements. As a subject matter expert in the field of payroll and pensions, the Payroll Officer will be expected to keep up to date with all relevant legislative policies and procedural changes, providing recommendations for business consideration where appropriate. Key Responsibilities

  • Process and manage the day to day running of and administration of the payroll and pension schemes within the business
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential
  • Process and enter data accurately throughout the period/year to meet agreed deadlines such as period pay run and year end accounts, including starters, leavers pay changes, transfers, hours, enhancements, childcare vouchers, pension’s attachment of earnings etc
  • Apply absence data e.g. sickness absence, other absence, jury service statutory and non-statutory leave in line with HR/payroll policies
  • Ensure that up-to-date information regarding salary/grades, pension deduction rates, and any other relevant information, for all categories of staff are applied and maintained
  • Print, sort and distribute payslips/P60/P11d ensuring they have been completed accordingly to the period/year end
  • Ensure annual increments and other salary alterations/variations are authorised and implemented correctly
  • Collect daily, weekly or period timesheets and apply accurately
  • Input New starter/Leaver information
  • Liaise with HR, Finance and any other key areas to ensure work is submitted and processed in a timely fashion, urgent items are prioritised and that any issues are highlighted and resolved as quickly as possible
  • Provide a customer focused payroll and pension function ensuring appropriate and responsive service and guidance to internal customers
  • Support other members of the team with a wide range of payroll enquiries from employees and other stakeholders, providing advice and guidance on all payroll and pension matters including the interpretation of current legislation and regulations
  • Proficient in statutory payments – SSP/SMP/SPP/Adoption/Shared Parental Leave and manual calculations
  • Check/reconcile payroll data, ensuring they reconcile with each element highlighting any discrepancies to the Senior Payroll Officer
