Senior Biomedical Scientist - HaematologyA post for a fixed term (9 months), Maternity cover, Senior Biomedical Scientist is available in the Haematology Department based at Macclesfield Hospital. You must be a strong team player who has a positive attitude to change, with excellent organisational and communication skills.As part of the current senior team within the department, the successful candidate will be HCPC registered and have extensive experience in Haematology and Blood Transfusion having previously worked at band 6 or above. They will be a dynamic individual with a good theoretical and practical knowledge of Haematology and Blood Transfusion. You will have some previous knowledge and experience of quality management systems and ISO 15189 requirements. Good communication skills and proven organisational ability will be needed as you will be involved in staff appraisals and other HR duties as required.Following appropriate training and competency assessment the successful candidate may be required to participate in the shift working process of the department, for which a sessional payment is made in accordance with Agenda for Change guidelines.The department is well equipped with Beckman Coulter DxH 800’s, Werfen ACL TOP 350 coagulation and Starrsed Auto Compact ESR analyser. The LIMS supplier is CliniSys LabCentre. Q-Pulse is the current quality management system.The laboratory is ISO 15189 accredited and approved as a training laboratory for both HCPC Registration and Specialist portfolios. Continuous professional development is actively encouraged and attendance at appropriate internal and external courses is supported.The department offers the opportunity for you to develop personally and professionally.Following an NHSI initiative to establish 29 Pathology networks across England the University Hospital of North Midlands is currently working closely with Mid and East Cheshire NHS Trusts to establish a Pathology network across Staffordshire and Cheshire.Informal visits are strongly recommended.For further details / informal visits contact:Carly Batson or Lorraine Cunningham Tel.
