Job Description

A fantastic opportunity for a My SQL & BI Developer has arisen to work for a well-established and progressive local business. Working for a dynamic and fast paced organisation who are forward thinking and offer excellent career progression. My client is looking for a talented and enthusiastic developer to join the team and take over management of the MS SQL Development in this area, working with the Customer Insight Manager to continue development and improvement of the existing suite of reports as well as developing new ones and assisting in data queries.Commutable from: Stoke on Trent, Newcastle under Lyme, Keele, Uttoxeter and Stone.

  • As the BI SQL Developer, you will form an integral part of the Management Information Group within the IT Team to continue with the above efforts as well as assist the IT Team with the ongoing management of SQL Server and Azure Hosted databases.
  • As the BI SQL Developer, you will be developing and refining the ETL scripts used by the business.
  • Assisting in the ongoing development of the reports and dashboards that form the front-end for BI.
  • Maintaining the synchronicity between the on-premises data warehouse and Azure Hosted copies.
  • As the BI SQL Developer, you will be monitoring the effectiveness and efficiency of the Power BI Data refreshes from the Azure Hosted Data Warehouse.
  • Assisting with queries relating to methodology for measuring the data, the accuracy of the reporting and one-off data extracts.
    • Candidate Requirements:
  • Experienced SQL & BI Developer is essential ideally within a manufacturing, distribution, logistics environment.
  • Be a source of information and guidance to the team on how to develop measures to match requirements from internal customers.
  • Be confident in their abilities and advice enough to forge ahead with new and more streamlined methods of processing our data business-wide.
  • Keep up to date on features and best-practice for BI and MS SQL and make recommendations for improvement to IT management.
  • Have a proven track record of Business Intelligence development using T-SQL and DAX.
  • Be passionate about BI measurement and representation of data.
  • Be capable of maintaining an MS SQL instance and fill-in as a DBA as required to keep the data server running in good order.
  • Take ownership of the log shipping and backups for MS SQL.
