Job Description

My client based in the Trentham Lakes area of Stoke on Trent is looking for a Multi Skilled Shift Engineer.MAIN PURPOSE OF JOBTo be responsible for providing electrical / mechanical support to the business. To safely carry out the electrical and mechanical installation, maintenance, repair and inspection of manufacturing machinery, engineering plant and site services.To electrically and mechanically maintain and repair various types of production machinery in a safe and timely manner ensuring equipment is in a good and safe working condition for use.To provide engineering shift support to the businessTo solve and rectify electrical and mechanical machine breakdowns in a timely manner whilst on shift.Perform planned and preventative tasks as part of a team or individually.Complete and maintain required business documentation and processesTo ensure all site services and utilities are in good working condition.QUALIFICATIONS

  • A recognised apprenticeship or period of formal training (minimum of 3 years) in a multi skilled discipline with a minimum of 5 years post-apprenticeship experience with a biased to electrical qualifications
  • 17/18th Edition Electrical qualification desirable
  • Qualifications in health and safety desirable
  • Forklift truck desirable
  • MEWP License desirable
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
  • Proven experience in a manufacturing, fast moving environment with both preventative and reactive experience.
  • Knowledge of installing/repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic equipment.
  • Good standard of both literacy and numeracy
  • Demonstrated experience of continuous improvement processes and implementation.
  • Good verbal and written communication
  • Be able to operate in a physically demanding role ie. Manual handling / Lifting
  • High level of personal presentation
  • PC literate with an understanding of Microsoft Office and engineering management systems
  • Can do attitude and results orientated.
  • Flexible in approach to work hours including overtime and weekends.
  • Excellent time management
  • Attention to detail and proactive.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as a member of a team, operating to high standards of team work where necessary and personal values
  • An advanced knowledge and application of health and safety practices
DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. To carry out repairs to production machinery, fixtures and equipment using lathe, drills, miller and grinder and by welding, brazing and soldering.
  1. Undertaking and documenting scheduled PPM maintenance
  1. Respond to all breakdowns including Electrical and Mechanical fault diagnosis
  1. Assist with machine and equipment upgrade
  1. Safe use of all machinery in the workshop inclusive of Lathes, millers, surface grinding and welding equipment.
  1. Fire alarm and emergency light weekly testing
  1. Undertake in all relevant compliance testing, safe use and operation of site forklift trucks if required
  1. To fit grinding wheels in accordance with regulations.
  1. To assist other maintenance members as required.
  1. To be responsible for general housekeeping in immediate work area.
  1. To carry out such other duties as may be required to achieve the overall purpose of the job and the department.
  1. 5s participation and ownership
  1. Support project work on site as required.
  1. Provide cover for all sites in the business inclusive of factory
  1. Undertake reactive works in a timely manner to deliver within the department KPIs
  1. Upkeep and maintain of plant room including 5s activity
  1. Conduct handover with opposite shift to ensure smooth transition
  1. To undertake in weekend work and overtime to business needs as required.
  1. To undertake works with the use of access equipment including ladders.
  1. To be capable of working solely or as part of a team
  2. Conduct any other duties that are deemed appropriate to the post
  1. To act in accordance with Health and Safety across all sites
