Job Description

Are you an experienced administrator from the healthcare sector looking for a new challenge If so, join The Woodhouse in Staffordshire as a Mental Health Act Administrator and enjoy a career where you are valued and supported to be the best you can be.Working 22.5 hours a week as a Mental Health Act Administrator, you will liaise with members of the hospitals Mental Health Act Detention Review Panel to organise convenient dates for renewal/appeal meetings and will communicate with external authoritiesto process and document name changes.You will be responsible for overseeing service userslegal documentation regarding the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended November 2007), which includes section paper, section renewals, rights, consent to treatment and Mental Health Tribunals, ensuring itis processed promptly.At Elysium, we want the best for you.   • To maintain and develop information systems and data management processes
  • Ensuring the correct implementation of the Mental Health Act 1983; in relation to the legal paperwork for detained patients, making sure it is accurate and kept secure.
  • Being responsible for organisation and co-ordinating First Tier Tribunals, Section Renewal and Hospital Manager Appeal meetings for patients, including all related paperwork is prepared according to the guidelines pertaining to each.
  • Transcribing various reports, letters and other correspondence for the meetings if required.Upholding confidentiality at all times, with particular reference to personal records of both employees and Service Users.
  • Acquiring and maintaining an in-depth knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 and its provisions, the MHA 1983 Code of Practice and Company Policies and Procedures
  • Arrange assessments and coordinate patient admission, including funding from the responsible authority
To be successful in this role, youll need:
  • 4 GCSEs or equivalent (including English)
  • Word Processing qualification is desirable
  • IMHAP qualification or equivalent
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office preferred)
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended November 2007) and associated legislation
  • Experience in Medical Records administration in a mental health setting is desirable
  • Experience with administration/office systems
  • Full and clean UK driving license
  • Experience within a customer-facing role is desirable
