Job Description

Job Title: IT Services ManagerLocation: Stoke, StaffordshireSalary: £35,000 - £45,000Job Type: Full Time, PermanentThe City of Stoke on Trent Sixth Form College is a thriving, lively and successful Sixth Form College, committed to social inclusion. The College is located in an award-winning, state of the art building at the heart of the University Quarter of Stoke on Trent. In September 2017, the College achieved academy status as part of the Potteries Educational Trust.The College is seeking to recruit an experienced IT Services Manager to provide expert knowledge, experience and operational management to the IT Services department, ensuring that the Infrastructure, devices and services used across the College are fit for purpose, secure and maintained to the highest standards. The post holder will advise on future technology, system and service solutions to meet the needs of the trust, and manage projects to renew and improve the infrastructure as part of an overall digital strategy.Key Responsibilities:

  • To participate in College processes as required
  • To provide operational leadership for the IT Services team, ensuring that service levels are consistently achieved and staff are provided with ongoing support and professional development
  • To manage the colleges IT hardware and software real-estate, meeting all relevant external regulations such as FAST, HSE, WEEE, and any other audit requirements
  • Apply an innovative approach to problem solving across a range of hardware, software and systems within a college
  • To be responsible for the installation, maintenance and support and extension of the Colleges local area network and end user devices, including the College computer teaching rooms, through setting up central servers, adding clients and configuring network hardware
  • To comply with the Colleges policies and codes of practice in relation to Health and Safety, Equality and Diversity and Quality Assurance
  • To work flexibly in the interests of the College as required
  • To participate in the College Performance Management Scheme and undertake staff development activities as appropriate
  • To be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults you are responsible for, or come into contact with, and outside of this, to exercise vigilance at all times
  • To be a nominated first aider and undertake relevant training as necessary
  • To be aware of the policy, procedures and safe working practices expected of all staff relating to the processing of personal information and Data Protection
  • Key Requirements:
  • Holds a high level of technical expertise
  • Has extensive experience of Microsoft 365 technologies
  • Holds the ability to communicate efficiently and confidently to both staff and students, explaining technical issues in an accessible manner
  • Holds excellent organisational and time management skills
  • An understanding of young people and the ability to communicate with them tactfully and with respect
