Job Description

This innovative specialist Housing Association is looking for an Interim Head of Governance, Business Assurance & Compliance to provide the organisation and its’ management, with independent assurance that operational and business support functions work effectively and continually progress towards the provision of outstanding services. The role is to backfill an impending retirement and will allow the organisation to design the permanent role in line with its’ next phase of growth and development.The job:The roles’ main focus is to deliver high standards of compliance in governance matters and support the board in a regulated environment. As the Interim Governance Manager, you will report into the CEO and take ownership of company secretarial and corporate governance matters.Key responsibilities:

  • Providing high-quality board support and committee meeting support
  • Advise and support the ELT in line with regulatory/company rules, risk management, corporate strategy and business plan
  • Ensure compliance with all legal regulatory and statutory requirements including specific regulatory frameworks (e.g. Homes & Communities Agency)
  • Maintain policy management systems and ensure regulatory returns are completed on time
  • Act as the main point of contact for the board members on all matters Governance, Regulatory, Compliance and Business Assurance
  • Proactively review the quality standards ensuring they are fit for purpose and met with/maintained across the business
  • This is a varied position where will you drive best practice in governance, risk and assurance to ensure the CEO and Board can meet their duties to the organisation, and business continuity is assured.The PersonYou must have strong working knowledge of corporate governance principles with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills as you will be engaging with board members and key stakeholdersYou will have a proven track record of successfully performing in a company secretarial/corporate governance role with excellent board support and high-quality minute taking skills.You will ideally be working towards your ICSA qualification and any experience within the not-for-profit sector including social housing, education, charitable organisations or NHS is preferred although not essential.
