Infrastructure Engineer - Storage & Backup Spring Technology are working with a global market leader to recruit an experienced Infrastructure Engineer with expertise in Storage and Backup to join their highly successful platform delivery team. The RoleAs an Infrastructure Engineer you will join our clients Systems Operations function which supports, manages and maintains enterprise scale computer and storage platforms. Systems Operations are responsible for ensuring availability and continuity of mission critical platforms. You will be primarily focused - but not limited to - the Storage and Backup technology domain. Cross skilling in virtualisation and server technologies is encouraged and your progression will be supported with development plans, training and mentoring from Technical Leads.The Responsibilities *Providing a quality and personable support experience to the business.*Understanding Incident, Request, Change, Problem and Knowledge management (ITIL).*Recognising areas for continuous improvement through improved system monitoring and visibility, while automating the simple and simplifying the difficult.*Collaborating with other technology specialists within the teams to challenge and identify how to maximise current technology investment, and recognise how benefits from emerging technologies.*Working with system data and tools to gain deeper insight into the platforms for in-depth investigations and pro-active problem analysis.*Carrying out capacity planning and MI reporting.*Taking part in Infrastructure managed works including testing, validation, refresh and migration activity.*Performing system maintenance, upgrades and IT service continuity testing.*Covering potential on-call, weekend and out of hours shifts, on a rota basis. (1 in 4)*Collecting and visualising metric and log data using tools such as Splunk, Elastic or Prometheus.The Requirements*Effective time management, organisation and work prioritisation to meet deadlines with ability to maintain excellent attention to detail.*Logical approach to solving problems under pressure and an active communicator on technical issues.*Experience in highly available enterprise Block, File and Object storage services.*Experience of SAN design, configuration and management (Brocade).*Strong understanding of backup solutions and technologies.*Familiarity with Windows, Linux, VMware.*Scripting skills in bash/PowerShell/python.If you are keen to join an ever growing market leading organisation who can offer fantastic benefits and career progression apply now.
