Job Description

Reed Education are proud to be working alongside one of Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshires leading alternative provisions, supporting the academic and social development of KS3-4 learners, who are looking to appoint a full time Functional Skills Tutor, to start in the new term, on a permanent basis.The school offer an inclusive and nurturing environment, that allows students to excel emotionally and socially, whilst giving each student the opportunity to achieve their potential.The school provides an extensive educational package for their learners, offering a range ofGCSE, BTEC, NVQ, Functional Skills and Preparation For Work certificates, as well as an extensive PHSE programme, developed and tailored to suit the individual needs of their learners. The school also has a designated EAL department to promote inclusion and equality, as well as a wide range of enrichment activities to provide their students with new and exciting opportunities, with sport being only one of many strategies used to enhance learning, build confidence, self-esteem and promote self development.About You:? Hold a recognised Teaching qualification; PTTLS, Cert Ed, PGCE, as well as your own Functional Skills in English and Maths at Level 2, or GCSE equivalent.? Confidence and experience supporting SEMH learners? Ability to plan, teach, and assess English and Maths Functional Skills from Entry 3 up to Level 2 to students on a 1:1 and small group basis, identifying barriers to learning and strengths using initial assessment? A passion for developing the academic and social abilities of SEMH students? An effective communicator, with children, parents, and colleagues? Pastoral capabilities, including contributing to EHCPs?
