Job Description

Applications are invited for an Electricity Network Planner based in Stokearea.You will be involved indesigning, costing and quoting projects for new electricity supplies and the replacement / diversion and reinforcement of existing electricity network assets.You will take part in detailed technical discussions with customers, architects,public authorities and landowners both over the phone and in person during site visits.You will need English and Maths GCSE Grade C/Level 4 or above ORFunctional Skills Level 2 or above ANDwill be required to hold a Level 2 City & Guilds 2339 (or equivalent qualification deemed to be at the same level)in order to apply.Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment.If not already attained the successful candidate will be required to undertake Level 3City & Guilds 2339.*Please note the successful candidate may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete.If you are offered a position, you will be required to successfully complete a basic DBS check that shows any unspent convictions or conditional cautions.As part of our commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, all applications to Western Power Distribution jobs are automatically anonymised by our recruitment system. Main ResponsibilitiesThe main activities within the role will include:-

  • The planning, preparation and delivery of new connections, alterations and capital projects
  • To effectively communicate with customers throughout the process
  • The organisation of individual projects, includingmanaging cost effectiveness
  • Take into consideration the impact of projects on customers, the public and the environment
  • To design schemes which are safe and identify and communicate specific safety considerations according to the CDM regulations
  • Use company systems including CROWN, EMU, DES, E5, LV Network analysis tools and MS OFFICE to prepare schemes and commercial reports
The Ideal CandidateIdeally the successful candidate will have some experience of:-
  • The design and delivery of projects in accordance with Engineering Directives
  • Preparation of quotation and correspondence with customers
  • Network operations at LV and HV
Applicants may not necessarilypossess all the skills required to carry out the role at present but should have the confidence and ability to reach the necessary standards with training.A flexible attitude is essential as you may be asked to undertake other duties to assist the team in meeting its objectives. In addition you will need to be mobile throughout the area as you may be required to undertake standby duties.
