Domestic Abuse Housing AdvocateStoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire37.5 hours per weekFixed term until end September 2023£23,710 per annumAs a specialist Domestic Abuse Housing Advocate youll work in partnership with local authorities across North Staffordshire to support customers around domestic abuse and homelessness. Youll deliver focused and tailored one-to-one support to help themstart their new chapter and live a life free from abuse.Job requirements Work with local authorities to complete risk assessments and create plans for customers impacted by homelessness and domestic abuse. Work with customers to co-ordinate a trauma-informed, asset-based support programme. This will guide the customer and their family through their longer-term housing journey to help them achieve their own personal goals. Advocate for customers and support them to engage with both internal and external agencies and access the services they need. Support and provide information for, or attend, meetings as required. Youll do this to support organisational, commissioner, multi-agency and partner organisation reports and reviews. Build links with local authorities, including the out-of-hours service and rough sleeper teams, to make sure customers are supported quickly. Deliver training to colleagues and other professionals to increase their confidence in responding to disclosures of domestic abuse.What were looking for A good level of education such as GCSE English and maths, or equivalent. One years experience supporting adults with complex needs such as domestic abuse and homelessness. Experience of delivering support to customers and recognising individual needs. A genuine understanding of people in abusive relationships. Someone with good written and verbal communication skills. Someone with a passion for supporting people in a non-judgemental way.
