Job Description

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, youll know what it means to lead a team. To always strive for better. Better care, a better you, a better service.Join the team at The Woodhouse in Cheadle (Staffordshire) and provide medical leadership to the Multi-Disciplinary Team and the SMT of the Hospital, advising on psychiatric and medical issues within the Hospital.Working as part of the multidisciplinary team, you will provide professional leadership to the team, ensure best practice care is delivered, and manage and evaluate a high-quality medical service, ensuring that clinical policy, practice and its applicationis evidence-based and of a good standard.The Woodhouse is a Learning Disability and Autism service near the village of Cheadle, nestled in the Staffordshire countryside, with a team that works well together and supports each other.When you work for Elysium Healthcare as a Consultant Psychiatrist, you have access to a large and supportive peer group of like-minded professionals to engage and network with, as well as a range of benefits and excellent range of career development opportunities.Other Clinical Lead and Consultant Psychiatrist responsibilities include:

  • Operationally manage targets, timetables and constraints in accordance with operational and strategic objectives
  • Being responsible for the administration of the Mental Health Act, Clinical Policies, Clinical Standards and associated administrative tasks in respect of patient care
  • Lead the assessment of referrals, admissions through to discharge and ensure that the service meets the needs of those who are appropriately admitted
  • Lead on key clinical meetings such as ICR, CTR and CPAs
  • Working alongside The Hospitals Physical Health Care Co-ordinator and the Regional Physical Health Lead (Senior Paramedic) to support the delivery of physical healthcare in the service, in conjunction with the General Practitioner.
  • Professionally supervise staff as required
  • Contribute to the training, education and development of staff of all disciplines
  • Participate in the interview process for staff and delivering Clinical Governance in conjunction with the hospital team
  • Ensure professional compliance with the relevant professional bodies
Essential qualifications and experience
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • Full GMC registration with licence to practice
  • MRCPsych or MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists
  • Section 12(2) approval, Approved Clinician status
