Job Description

Childrens and Young Persons Worker Domestic AbuseStaffordshire Moorlands £16,845 per annum30 hours per weekFixed term contract until March 23As a Children and Young Person Practitioner youll work with children and young people impacted by domestic abuse. Youll deliver one-to-one and group support sessions, identify additional support needs and manage safeguarding concerns.Job requirements

  • Work with children and young people, identifying their individual support needs, to provide a tailored support package.
  • Assess children and young people in a holistic way and produce safety plans within child protection framework.
  • Deliver one-to-one and group support sessions to children and young people using a range of social, therapeutic, learning and development activities.
  • Work as part of a multi-agency response to meet the needs of children and young people.
  • Make the necessary referrals to relevant agencies and work with these agencies to promote safeguarding and the wellbeing of the child or young person. Support children and young people to engage with internal and external agencies to help them develop theirskills.
  • Assist with the delivery of presentations or workshops as required.
  • Work with colleagues to achieve role, team, service, customer and organisation objectives.
  • Stay up to date with the pressures that children and young people face, especially around social media and online safety.
What our client is looking for
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification relevant to working with children and young people.
  • Good standard of education with a GCSE in English and maths or equivalent.
  • Experience working with children and young people or families.
  • Knowledge and understanding of child protection legislation and guidance and the complexities surrounding domestic abuse and safeguarding.
  • An understanding of the impact that domestic abuse has on children and young people.
  • Someone able to work effectively with external professionals and agencies.
  • Someone able to drive with access to their own vehicle for work purposes.
  • DBS check every three years.
