Job Description

Join the team at The Woodhouse in Cheadle as an Assistant Psychologist and help some of the most vulnerable people in society.Working 37.5 hours a week alongside a multidisciplinary team, youll provide person-centred care for men with a learning disability and/or Autism. Gaining experience across low secure and locked rehabilitation environments to support better health and greaterindependence.Under the supervision of a Registered Psychologist, you will assist in the provision of psychological assessment, formulation and therapy for adults. This includes assisting in undertaking psychometrics, interviews, assessments and formulations.You will support therapeutic sessions by co-facilitating groups, which will see you create individual rapports with service users to encourage participation and empower recovery.As an Assistant Psychologist, you will assist in clinically related administrative duties, including conducting audits, collection of statistics, developing audits and/or research projects, teaching and project work.A range of training opportunities are available that can see your career grow and you achieve your career aspirations.Other responsibilities:

  • Undertaking structured/manualised treatment, supported self-help, homework sessions or other work with a clear and discrete remit
  • To maintain the information, case records and databases to assist in the coordination and organisation of the Psychology services.
  • To maintain and help develop new systems of operating in the Psychology Department
To be successful in this role, youll need
  • Knowledge of legislation and its implications for the profession and the groups we work with
  • A BPS accredited recognised degree in Psychology conferring Graduate Basis for Registration (GBR)
  • Experience of working with people in a similar setting
  • Experience of having completed self-directed research
  • To be working towards professional training
