Job Description

Product Development Technician with electronics background and experience in supporting the development of medical electronics systems. Supporting product development through build, verification and validation of product prototypes; Test & measurement ofelectronic systems; Prototype electronics updates, Build and verification of new test jigs and fixtures; Supporting transfer to manufacture process as new products are released into production.Client DetailsPageGroup Scotland are delighted to be supporting Emblation - an award-winning medical technology company, revolutionising the way microwave energy is used in healthcare.Their aim is to improve on traditional treatments, using the unique advantages microwaves deliver - accurate, repeatable procedures, and better clinical outcomes.Their technology is revolutionising the treatment of HPV infections globally, and is widely used in Dermatology, Podiatry and Oncology, with a number of disruptive applications under development in the fields of Cardiology and Gynaecology.The company was started in 2007 by joint co-founders and inventors behind the technology. They form part of the highly experienced management team with over 50 years of experience in this field.Emblations medical products can be found globally and through the recently investment into the business, the company is focused on 3 primary goals:* Expansion into new treatment areas* Development of new markets and a wider global presence* The addition of new talent to our Scottish Headquarters to bring the skills and experience needed to support our plans for growthDescription* As part of the product development team, developing and qualifying medical device systems and products incorporating advanced microwave technology, in accordance with the Companys design control procedures and medical device quality standards.* Conducting electronics debug activities for prototype development with support from electronics design engineers and product development technicians. * Test and measurement of electronics and systems using engineering tools (including oscilloscope, DMM, Hi-pot tester, temperature calibrators).* Design, build and verification of test fixtures for use in product verification, validation or manufacturing use. Procurement of parts and use of 3D printer/mill for custom requirements.* Maintenance of test fixtures used within product development.* Generating product test documentation defining the use of test fixtures.* Supporting validation testing, including accompanying products through EMC testing.* Updates to product build, test and packaging documentation to streamline processes.* Supporting product transfer to manufacture through involvement in process development & pilot runs.* Training of manufacturing personnel against new or updated procedures.* Engineering change introduction of product or process improvements.Quality Assurance:* Technical support for QA investigations when required.* Supporting QA through service area inventory control, including booking of goods received/inspection, and control of records for the engineering laboratory.* Supporting QA equipment calibration activities.Profile* HND in Electronics/Electrical Engineering with a proven track record in an engineered product environment.* Minimum of 2 years experience in the support of product development of hi-tech electronic products.* Hands-on approach - the role will suit an individual with practical skills who is comfortable in the debug and repair of electronic systems including soldering and crimping, system assembly and minor mechanical modifications using common hand tools.* Soldering skills against an IPC recognised standard is desirable.* Experienced in reading technical drawings, circuit schematics and test procedures.* Competent computer skills, including use of Microsoft Excel and Word.* High standard of communication and written skills required. As this role involves working with multiple departments, defining test records and recording investigation activities, fluency and accuracy is essential. * 3D CAD skills (e.g. Solidworks) are desirable for the production of design documentation relating to test fixtures. Where an individual does not already have these skills but has an appetite to learn, training can be provided.* Ability to travel to Emblations subcontract manufacturer in Edinburgh as required (infrequent).Clean driving licence.* Experience with microwave technology testing (power meter, network analyser, spectrum analyser) is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.* Experience in programming for test equipment interfacing (e.g. LabVIEW) is an advantage. * Experience with electronics schematic packages is an advantage.* Experience of working within a highly regulated sector such as Medical Devices (ISO13485) or life sciences is an advantage.Job OfferSalary £25K - £35K NEG/DOE, BenefitsOpportunity to be part of an award winning and dynamic business with rapid expansion across the Globe.Progression and Development opportunities with excellent career opportunities.Flexible Working start and finish times
