Specialist Clinical Pharmacist - Cancer ServicesAfC Band 7 (with weekend and Bank Holiday commitment)Part time The TrustThe University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM) is a large teaching Trust, partnered with Keele University, serving over 3 million people. The Pharmacy team is enthusiastic, forward thinking and vibrant. We have a proven track record in re-engineering our services to improve the delivery of high quality, patient focused pharmaceutical care and optimisation of medicines use.This roleThis exciting post has been developed to support the specialist haematology and oncology pharmacy teams at the University Hospitals of North Midlands. Based at the County site, we are looking for an enthusiastic pharmacist wishing to develop their clinical skills in haematology and oncology through the out-patient setting. You will join an established team to support the pharmaceutical care of Cancer patients at UHNM. Routinely, the successful candidate will be based at County Hospitals, but opportunity to work on both sites exists. You will be involved in the pharmaceutical care of out-patients including a portfolio of clinical trials. There will be an opportunity to participate with the delivery of a clinical pharmacy service to the local Hospices located within the Trust grounds on the County site and in Trentham.The County site has a 16 chaired, four bedded out-patient day unit which opened in 2016. The team also provides a clinical service to the local hospice located within the County site grounds. The team here form part of the wider Cancer team based at the Royal Stoke site. This opened in 2009 and consists of a 40 bedded in-patient ward and a dedicated four bedded Emergency Admissions Bay for clinical assessment of toxicities. There is a 27 chaired out-patient area and radiotherapy department comprising four linear accelerators. The clinical trials team based on the Cancer Centre manage a broad portfolio of both commercial and non-commercial trials.Both sites benefit from the electronic prescribing ARIA® system, which has been operational since 2004. There is a dedicated lead pharmacist to maintain and develop the ARIA® system.During 2020 the team have developed new ways of working, adapting rapidly to change and supporting the wider Cancer Team. We have two abstracts accepted for BOPA conference in October entitled ‘Remote working and workflow reconfiguration of the Cancer Pharmacy Team’ and ‘Prioritisation Tool and Business Continuity Plan for Pharmacy Cancer Services during Covid-19 Pandemic’This is an exciting time to join our specialist cancer pharmacy team to develop your interest in cancer services and improve quality and patient experience.
