Instructor in Mechanical Engineering (Machining & CNC Setting)Location: Stafford CollegeSalary: £20,569 – £29,632Newcastle & Stafford Colleges Group is currently home to around 2,000 apprentices where we work with over 800 individual employers. The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of outstanding workshop teaching, learning and assessment within the Mechanical Engineering curriculum, that uses innovative and dynamic methods to secure learner success, develops high aspirations and supports positive progression.Your workshop delivery will be on full-time and part-time (Levels 1-3) Mechanical Engineering qualifications along with a range of apprenticeships, including welding.You will develop students’ skills and knowledge in cutting, boring, drilling, milling, planning, shaping and turning, in setting tolerances on machinery, developing skills on both CNC and hand controlled machinery.Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver lively and interactive instruction and assessment activities to a high standard on a range of programmes. Although these activities would ordinarily be carried out in a workshop environment, there could be some associated classroom activities.
  • Mark and assess students’ work, in line with College policies and procedures and awarding body regulations
  • Develop students’ skills and knowledge in cutting, boring, drilling, milling, planning, shaping and turning, in setting tolerances on machinery, developing skills on both CNC and hand controlled machinery, following instructions and technical drawings and checking quality standards of work.
  • Required Skills and Experience:
  • Has a level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
  • Has willingness to complete an assessing and IQA qualification.
  • Has industry experience in Engineering, with current knowledge and the ability to deliver to industry standard.
  • Is well organised and able to manage the peaks and troughs of a varied workload.
  • Able to communicate effectively with students and peers.
