They are a trusted employer to over 10,000 skilled specialists working from 240locations, and operate a divisional structure aligned with its end markets.The team maintain and upgrade Substations for their clients, delivering a full service from design and project management through to delivery. The roleWe are looking for a Design Manager to lead the growth of the substation business. Coordinate design projects and oversee the completion in respect to design issues and to produce effective design solutions. Providing technical support to Design Engineers,Project Engineers, Site Engineers, and clients for large Substations.Key Responsibilities;* Manage day to day Substation design activities* Primary plant design and layouts for HV substations* Equipment specifications for HV Plant and equipment* Providing engineering design input to large electrical power projects from feasibility to end engineering stages* Project management and coordination with clients for large National Grid Projects * Delivering projects in new technologies e.g. energy storage, HVDC systems, smart grid solutions, waste to energy etc* Provide professional services to clients NationallyThe candidateWe are looking for an ambitious and dynamic individual with excellent technical skills and the ability to nurture and grow the team.* Excellent knowledge and understanding of all key client and industry specifications* Act in compliance with external and internal procedures, processes and delegated authorities* Experience in design, delivery and supervision of HV substations (110kV to 400kV)* Experience in development of specifications for HV AIS/GIS substations and associated primary/secondary equipment* Experience of all stages of project lifecycles* Experience in applying regulatory and client specific health and safety requirements to HV plant system designs* Experience in the preparation of technical reports in English* Excellent communication skillsWhy JoinThis is a great opportunity for an individual to work on major National Grid projects with an excellent work life balance and the opportunity to work from home, anywhere in the UK.* 26 days annual leave plus 8 days bank holiday* Annual bonus* Pension scheme* Life Assurance* Private health care * Company car* Remote working available If you are interested to learn more, contact Dean Forster at Tempest Jones, or apply now by submitting your CV.
