Job Description

***Temporary Fines Officer vacancy in Weston Super Mare £11.88 per hour to start ASAP***Our client HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) is an agency of the Ministry of Justice. HMCTS provides administrative support for the legal system across England and Wales, ensuring justice works for everyone.Temporary Fines Officer position until October 2024 to start ASAP; contract likely to be extended.Full time. Monday to Friday 37 hours per week.08:30 - 17:00 Monday to Thursday; 08:30 - 16:30 Friday. 1 hour for lunch.Parking spaces available on site.£11.88 per hour.This is an office-based role only. Full training will be given.Duties may include, but not be limited to:

  • Providing administrative support to the court and to ensure monetary orders are enforced effectively
  • Using of Outlook, Word and Excel. In house bespoke computer system. Use of Government tools to aid tracing
  • Inputting case details, preparing & processing paperwork
  • Carrying out sanctions in accordance with Courts Act
  • Undertaking Telephone Debt recovery work to assist effective enforcement of orders
  • Making effective decisions in regard to defaulters next course of enforcement
  • Answering verbal and written enquiries and responding to correspondence
  • Undertaking general administrative duties such as photocopying, faxing, telephone, filing, archiving, printing and post.
  • Liaising with other agencies, CEOs & Bailiffs and other interested parties to collect information, check facts, communicate or enforce judicial decisions, give advice on the completion of forms or court procedures, etc.
Required skills:
  • Previous admin experience
  • Good accurate typing/data entry skills
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Good strong working knowledge of Microsoft packages
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Ability to work as part of a team but also able to work independently
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritise workload
