Job Description

Here, at CrossReach’s Short Breaks service, children and young people enjoy time away from home. Based in our Glasgow hub in Springburn, we have been providing residential care for children & young people with learning disabilities and complex needs foralmost 30 years.The children and young people we support have faced more challenges than most. It’s our job to give them a home away from home by providing a caring and therapeutic environment where our focus is on meeting their needs – whether that be having fun and makingfriends or growing in confidence and developing skills for independence.Surrounding this child-focused approach are the ideas, nurture and commitment of our team, who work together to ensure that every child enjoys the best possible care and reaches theirfull potential.As a Relief Childrens Worker, you will be an essential part of our team. You will play a crucial role in providing care and support to children and young people during periods of staff absence or increased demand. Your flexibility and willingness to stepin when needed will ensure the continuity of care and maintain a nurturing environment for the children and young people we serve.While experience in working with children and young people, particularly those with learning disabilities, is beneficial, so too is a genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of children and young people. Your ability to adapt to various situations,work collaboratively with the team, and provide a safe and nurturing environment will be key in this role. Your exceptional communication skills and empathetic nature will enable you to establish positive relationships quickly and provide a sense of stabilityand support during transitional periods.As you support a child’s future, we’ll look after yours, with ongoing training and support for achieving additional qualifications.
