Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Learning Support Assistant to join us in our pursuit of excellence! The Learning Support Assistants’ provide essential and complementary services to teachers, tutors and heads of line to address the needs of a student who requires help to overcome barriers to learning and other difficulties in order to achieve their full potential. You will be supporting students with SEND needs including those with an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP). This will involve working under an agreed system of supervision. Please note that this position is county funded and will be reviewed on an annual basis.Salary:

  • £10.50 to £11.50 per hour (£16,500 to £18,000 per annum actual)
  • Hours:
  • Term time only - 35 weeks per year
  • Monday to Friday - 8:30am to 5:30pm
  • The RoleLearning support assistants devise and provide strategies to support the pupil in their academic progress across the curriculum. Duties will also include:
  • To work closely with Teachers to ensure Quality First Teaching for all students with SEND needs.
  • To challenge and motivate the pupil to promote a positive attitude to learning. Each situation has the potential to be unique.
  • To assist with the development of alternative teaching programmes, advising, devising, coordinating, adjusting and implementing activities according to pupil responses/needs.
  • Provide objective and accurate feedback and compiling detailed reports as required to staff and parents on pupil achievement, behaviour, progress and other matters.
  • Identify and participate in appropriate training and professional development and researching best practice.
  • YouYou will have a SEN relevant qualification at level 3 or equivalent experience.You will have an exceptional communication skills and be great at building rapport with others. You will be able to write reports and keep accurate records. Experience working in a school environment is vital.Additionally you will have the following:
  • Have experience of working with young people with additional needs including those with Dyslexia, Autistic Spectrum, Educational Behavioural Difficulties, Sensory Processing Difficulties, Anxiety and OCD.
  • Have experience working in a learning environment.
  • Be resilient and patient.
  • Have compassion and understanding.
  • Have an ability to be proactive, creative and empathetic.
  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Devising and maintaining appropriate evaluation and record keeping procedures and reporting back to relevant parties.
