Job Description

DT Teacher DerbyshireFebruary 2024Long Term, full time ongoing. Permanent for the right candidate.Salary negotiable dependent on experience and Pay Scale.Empowering Learning are a market leading education recruitment company. We are working in partnership with a prestigious Secondary School in Derbyshire close to Sheffield who are looking to appoint a Design Technology Teacher specialising in Resistant Materialsand Product Design to plan and deliver engaging lessons to achieve the best learning outcomes for students of all abilities.The role will be to commence February 2024, and would potentially turn in to a permanent position for the right candidate. Ideally the school are looking to offer a permanent role, however supply and permanent applicants will all be considered at this time.The successful candidate will integrate themselves in to the school ethos, working collaboratively with their faculty and SLT to ensure the highest levels of teaching and learning. The school days are slightly longer, and you would be expected to be willingto complete the same duties and responsibilities of permanent staff members which may include some Saturday contributions to support students. You will be in turn, afforded with the benefits of their permanent staff members, including free school lunches daily,and medical insurance post parity.You will be adept at managing your own time, and have the ability to take lead on the Department, specialising in Resistant Materials and Product Design across KS3, KS4 and potentially some KS5. If you have the skillset and ability to support a SCITT studentthrough their PGCE, this would be hugely beneficial to the school, however not essential.This is a full-time vacancy, seeking an outstanding candidate to join the school on their journey of growth.   • The school is looking for someone who is passionate about being a Design and Technology Teacher, to provide the very best opportunity for students across the school.
  • In this exciting role, you will contribute to the strategic direction of your subject development, to enhance the provision of DT Teaching practice across the school.
  • You will be responsible for the full planning and preparation of your lessons, however a detailed and robust scheme of work will be available to plan to.
  • To provide outstanding teaching for learning which meets the needs of all students.
  • To support the school raising standards of teaching and learning across the department and in monitoring progress towards agreed aims.
  • To provide specialist subject expertise to assist departmental staff, as appropriate.
  • To support the school in the implementation of agreed whole school policies and initiatives.
The successful candidate will
  • Hold a teaching qualification (QTS) Specialising in Secondary Design Technology or be trained to degree level with experience Teaching Design Technology for a minimum of 1 year as an Unqualified/Instructor Teacher.
  • Hold a degree or equivalent.
  • Have outstanding teaching practice.
  • Have excellent behaviour management.
  • Have experience of implementing a range of strategies to raise student achievement, with evidence of success.
  • Contribution to impact on the quality of learning and teaching and curriculum.
  • A proven track record of excellent results at KS3/4&5.
  • Have experience of high-quality pupil tracking and feedback practices.
