Job Description

Job title: Finance Accountant Location: Southwater (Temporarily based from home due to COVID)Salary: CompetitiveHours: 35Closing date: Wednesday 14th October 2020In the decade of our bicentenary, and operating in a world that’s more complex and challenging than ever before, we’re determined to continue increasing our reach, impact, and effectiveness.Are you ready for the next, new challengeWe’re looking for a talented Financial Accountant to play a key role in the production of regular accounts, reconciliations and control procedures, coordinating the production of returns to HMRC and to be a key contact for advisors on pensions, investment, tax, banking and other professional services.What you will be doing as an RSPCA Financial Accountant:

  • Preparing statutory accounts for submission to Companies House and the Charity Commission
  • Managing other external reporting requirements (such as banking covenants)
  • Preparing group consolidations, including some RSPCA Branches
  • Working with the Management Accountants, assisting in the production of enterprise level management accounts for ELT & Board
  • Assisting with systems implementations, developments & improvements
  • Liaising with external auditors and advisors
  • Treasury management - in close alignment with the Finance Operations Manager
  • Tax compliance and planning
  • Maintaining and developing accounting policies and controls
  • What you’ll have:
  • A professional accounting qualification such as ACA or CIMA
  • An understanding of all aspects of financial reporting & control
  • Expert understanding of financial reporting in UK Charities
  • Knowledge of tax, treasury and investment issues
  • Experience of managing an audit (from auditor or client side)
  • Understanding of best practice for financial controls
  • Awareness of goals and standards; you will follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards are met
  • Ability to adapt to changing demands and conditions; maintaining effective work behaviour in the face of setbacks or pressure
