This is a hugely varied, stimulating, and rewarding role, offering a very tangible senseof purpose, leading a small team of staff and additional volunteers, in order to maximise fundraising and engagement across Scotland.Founded in 1944, and as the Army’s national charity, the Army Benevolent Fund’s purpose is to provide a lifetime of support to serving soldiers, veterans, and their immediate families when they are in need, such they are afforded the opportunity to avoidhardship and enjoy independence and dignity.The Charity operates a Regional structure across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, with its central office in London.We are recruiting for the role of Regional Director Scotland. Ideally, the successful candidate will be able to start in mid-December 2023 or January 2024, on an initial two-year fixed term contract. The appointment represents the Charity and raises itsprofile in Scotland, with responsibility for the planning and execution of fundraising, continual development of our supporter base, engagement with stakeholders, line management/leadership of the Scotland regional staff, and providing support to the localnetwork of volunteers.Establishing and maintaining relationships across all sectors of Scottish society is the key to this appointment. Candidates will be expected to operate with local corporate entities, civic administrations, high net worth individuals, local trusts and charitableorganisations as well as with the Army in Scotland and its locally based Army and Army Cadet Force units. The successful candidate should possess strong interpersonal skills, be well organised and have an easy yet confident manner, able to establish and maintainsuccessful relationships both outside and within the Charity. They will work largely on their own initiative and as part of the regional team, whilst applying their persuasive, engaging character and project management strengths. Connectivity into local political,administrative, public and private organisations is highly desirable, as is recent personal experience of the Regular or Reserve Armed Forces.The role will be based out of our office in Edinburgh, but will require extensive travel throughout Scotland. The appointment manages a team of two staff from our Edinburgh office within Edinburgh Castle. A full driving licence is essential.Candidates should be able to use a wide range of IT applications and an understanding of social media tools is essential. Although experience of fundraising and/or the voluntary sector is desirable, professional training will be provided for the successfulcandidate.This is a full-time post for 35 hours per week. The starting salary is £48,000 annum with 30 days annual leave and competitive benefits after a probation period of 6 months.The closing date for this post will be 2 October with an interview date of 12/13 October 2023.
