Job Description

Finance Manager / Accounts Manager / Management Accountant who has substantial experience preparing budgets or financial accounts in a large organisation with some previous experience of successfully managing a team is required for a well-establishedMulti-Academy Trust based in Shelley, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.SALARY: £38,296 - £41,550 per annumLOCATION: Shelley, Huddersfield, West YorkshireJOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent- Hybrid working will be considered and flexibility is offered with regard either working on an all year-round basis or term time with some additional days for the right candidateJOB OVERVIEWDue to a retirement, we have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Finance Manager / Accounts Manager / Management Accountant who has substantial experience preparing budgets or financial accounts in a large organisation with some previous experience ofsuccessfully managing a team.Working as a Finance Manager / Accounts Manager / Management Accountant you will join a hardworking team of eight staff delivering an outstanding financial service to eight academies and a wider central services team including HR, Payroll, ICT and Premises& Compliance.As a Finance Manager / Accounts Manager / Management Accountant you will be required to develop and maintain effective systems to ensure records and returns for payroll, pensions, income tax and national insurance are up to date and accurate, invoices areprocessed efficiently, income is collected promptly and debts are minimisedDUTIESYour duties as the Finance Manager / Accounts Manager / Management Accountant include:

  • Contribute to the formulation of strategy, plans, policies, systems, controls and regulations, having overall responsibility for delivery of all aspects relating to finance
  • Responsible for ensuring best practice in terms of financial governance
  • Ensure financial regulations, policies, procedures, systems and controls are adhered to
  • Provide leadership, management, motivation and development of the central financial accounting / management accounting teams
  • Support the Chief Financial Officer in the completion of statutory and legislative returns
  • Responsibility for all aspects of management and financial accounting
  • Deliver an effective financial accounting service to include:
    • Purchase Ledger
    • Sales Ledger
    • Internal journals and recharges
    • VAT return to HMRC
    • Payroll analyses and recharges
    • Cash flow summaries/forecasts
    • Month end procedures, including balance sheet control account reconciliations
    • Year-end procedures, including accrual accounting and reconciliations
  • Develop and maintain effective systems to ensure records and returns for payroll, pensions, income tax and national insurance are up to date and accurate, invoices are processed efficiently, income is collected promptly and debts are minimised
  • Develop and maintain effective systems to ensure budget forecasts are up to date and accurate
  • Contribute to the preparation of the trusts short-medium term financial forecasts
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTSESSENTIAL:
  • AAT qualification (advanced or Intermediate level) or equivalent
  • Substantial experience of preparing budgets or financial accounts in a large organisation
  • The ability to interpret, advise and negotiate with managers on a diverse range of financial issues
  • Some experience of successfully managing a team
  • Willingness as well as the ability to travel around the trust area on occasion (therefore a current driving licence is required)
  • Proven experience of delivery of wide range of Finance services
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Experience of preparing financial accounts for audit
DESIRABLE:
  • Full professional qualification, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA, or equivalent
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Experience of education sector
