Mechanical Fitter - Team LeaderInterfaces with: Mechanical Fitting TeamAuthorities and Accountabilities:H&S of team, putting a stop to activities & production due to concerns over quality or processing risks, Housekeeping, communicating & to challenge individuals time keeping, maintaining production goals, to approve annual leave or appointments. Supervisorduties & department inspections.Job Purpose:Working alongside the production manager to:* oversee department H&S and quality needs, * maintain a clean & tidy working environment - using the 5s philosophy,* develop & maintain individuals training and skill requirements,* lead teams and direct focus towards goals for achieving production deliverables,* be a strong communicator and team motivator,* being an ambassador/voice of the mechanical fitting team,* demonstrate strong engineering, mechanical skills to assist with manufacturing/production problems,* Participates in working activities & solves working problems,* focus on continuous improvements by creating efficiencies, implementing & completing projects,* Covering areas/tasks in the absence of the production manager.Key Responsibilities:* Department H&S - work area checks at end of working day - promoting good housekeeping.* Overseeing machine build progress.* Achieving production deliverables ready for electrical fitting and FATs.* Communicating, leading & motivating the team.* Act as an educator, communicates expectations - processes, procedures, quality standards & mentoring individuals, e.g. apprentices, new starters.* Encouraging collaboration & teamwork. * Setting high quality expectations & upskilling others.* Reviewing shelf-life of adhesives, checking stock levels of consumables - requesting purchase.* Works strategically with production manager, updating on successes, issues, concerns & opportunities - verbally or by written report.* Adhere to the procedures defined by ISO9001 QA system.Role Related Knowledge, Experience and Personal Attributes:Essential:Apprenticeship trained, City & Guilds, ONC, trade qualification. CSE, GCSE, NVQ in English Math, other. Mechanical Instrument / Special machine building and fitting.Understanding and working to technical drawings, using measuring instruments & following SOPs.Bench craft skills - marking drilling cutting, threading, forming & using various hand tools.Strong experience, in a mechanical manufacturing environment.Computer literate and competent in Microsoft Word, Excel and ERP/MRP systemsGood communicator, friendly & approachable disposition, a "go-to" person. Logical and methodical approach, calm and task & team focused.Desirable:CMI level 2 team leadership diploma is supervision or other supervisor training courses.Basic / general Manual machining - turning & milling etc.Electro-mechanical experience.Forklift counterbalance licence.First Aid at Work Certificate.Can work under pressure, enjoys challenges and goes the extra mile.
