Manual Machinist £28 - 32K per annum, dependent upon experience (Negotiable). Monday to Thursday 8:00am to 5:00pm with ½ for lunch, Friday 8:00am to 1:00pm39-hours per week.Role:A skilled manual Miller/Turner/Machinist is required to join the workshop team. These manufactured items range in complexity from standard turned washers to detailed parts. These parts are produced as either a single article or small batch quantities for specialpurpose machines.Training will be provided for all nonstandard turning processes; however, you must be skilled within manual machine turning. The current role is 85% turning & 15% general drilling/milling, but this could change based upon skill set and personal development.If you have general manual turning and engineering experience, please feel free to apply - an opportunity could be available at a junior level with in-house training provided.Key Accountabilities* Understand and work to detailed metric drawings, with standard drawing or geometric dimension tolerancing.* Skilled & experienced in the machining of parts/components using conventional manual machinery, including Colchester centre laths, Bridgeport turret mills, band & chop saws, pillar drills and metal finishing equipment.* Working with standard raw materials include Acetal, Aluminium & Stainless-Steel. Machined parts must be produced to a high standard of tolerance & finish, moreover within an agreed time frame.* Complete in-house paperwork to ensure traceability of raw materials and the logging of hours to manufacture individual parts.* To support design changes and modifying parts/components appropriately. * Adhere to the procedures defined by the ISO9001 Quality Assurance system.* Maintain a safe working environment in line with Health & Safety policy together with current regulations.Skills:Qualifications or Functional Experience * Time-served apprenticeship in machining or time served experience.* Ability to read and understand engineering drawings & the use of measuring equipment. Skills, Knowledge, Experience * Ability to read technical drawings and work to tolerances using inspection equipment - micrometers, dial indicators & gauges etc.* Good knowledge of machining methods, work holding and mechanical principles.
