Job Description

Applications engineer- Intermediate Level£40 per hour PAYE/UmbWork Location: WarwickshireContract Length: Febuary 2022Advantage Resourcing are working with a power generation company, who have an opportunity for an Applications Engineer on a contract basis to act as the engineering interface to Sales and Commercial teams for technical support involving all resources relative to design, production, availability, and performance of equipment during the proposal phase of a project.Responsibilities

  • Prepare technical proposals including deviations to customers requirements
  • Be responsible for the technical content of proposals for our clients business, working with the Commercial Operations and Engineering teams and with internal and external suppliers to deliver competitive cost estimates and compelling technical proposals in a timely manner to win new orders.
  • Estimate equipment and system performance, hardware, and price for budgetary estimates
  • Assess competitive system performance and hardware evaluation throughout the entire bid process
  • Respond to various technical questions regarding products and systems solutions
  • Work with customers and suppliers (both internal & external) to define system requirements, physical interfaces, and adjust hardware configurations to optimize our solutions to suit, including the production of Equipment Specifications for Sourcing
  • Perform most assignments independently, requiring guidance only on unusual or complex problems
  • Work closely with cross-functional team to increase proposal competitiveness
  • Provide technical support to global team to assist in the success and quality of their proposals
  • Be a technical mentor to commercial & sales teams
  • Use knowledge and expertise to market winning proposals in anticipation of business product needs
  • Compliance with technical risk review procedures
  • Proposal quality
  • Eligible for SC Security clearance
  • Deep domain experience in the area of power systems and power electronic converters
  • Engineering, technical (or equivalent) degree/ HND from an accredited educational institution, and/or 5 years experience in an electrical engineering
  • Significant experience in design engineering and/or application engineering
  • Significant experience working with customers, preferably in marine industry
    • Experience
  • Strong knowledge or experience in Commercial Operations, Application Engineering, and Engineering processes, Inquiry to Order
  • Design of Power and Propulsion systems and associated equipment
  • Understand technical requirements for marine platforms
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and interpersonal, mentoring and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to document, plan, market and manage programs that further the knowledge, understanding and capability of the business
  • Problem analysis and resolution skills
  • Team worker
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities/deals at a time
  • 2+ years experience in the marine industry
