Job Description

Dynamic Controls Ltd (DCL), is a leading Valve, Manifold and Flow Control supplier for critical and demanding applications.DCL’s major markets include Defence and Nuclear which are significantly expanding.DCL is entering a major growth phase in all of its key markets.Customers include many leading global "Blue Chip" Engineering / Technology companies.Scope:The position is responsible for the coordination of activities relating to the planning and procurement of raw materials, consumables, and components, converting the output of the Master Production Schedule (MPS), into material requirements to ensure availability of the right quantity of components to manufacturing when required, communicating the plan to all stakeholders.Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and operational performance of the planning, purchasing, and stores teams.
  • Carry out day to day, "hands on" planning and purchasing activities as part of the materials team .
  • Maintaining Raw Materials, Consumables and Components inventories at optimum levels, while minimizing excess and minimising obsolete materials.
  • Manage & develop efficient and effective planning, procurement & inventory practices, optimizing the balance between quality, service, reliability, and cost.
  • Drive Supplier performance improvement including quality and on-time delivery.
  • Coordination and communication of the company materials plan to meet customers’ expectations.
  • Development and performance of suppliers and subcontract partners.
  • Managing the supply of products and components to meet customer/production demand.
  • Managing and developing all aspects the company materials supply chain.
  • Identifying and mitigating supply chain risks.
  • Working with Engineering/ QA / Manufacturing/ Finance colleagues in relation to supplier quality issues and ensuring all business and customer requirements are met.
  • Developing and supporting cost reduction initiatives to drive efficiencies and improvements in procurement processes/systems.
  • Minimising the total cost of procurement / acquisition costs of purchases.
  • Managing supplier performance and strategy.
  • Setting & managing internal and supplier KPI’s.
  • Managing purchasing, from enquiry through to order placement and delivery.
    • The Person:A team orientated, can do, positive persona and outlook is a prerequisite.Experience in the use of an integrated ERP such as SAP or Oracle or similar, and its application in optimising planning and procurement processes advantageous.Experienced as a Planner / Buyer, Senior Buyer, Category Buyer or Strategic Buyer within manufacturing or engineering.Experience in taking ownership and resolving supplier issues.The ability to use and understand, planning and procurement data / parameters to drive decision making.Comfortable working with engineering colleagues, and suppliers on technical issues.Capable of working under-pressure in a fast-paced environment.Good time keeping, prioritisation, and workload management skills.Microsoft Office literate, with a strong educational background.
