Job Description

Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Assistant to join our Highways team to work in Ripley, Woking.Role Purpose:A Commercial Assistant will have some experience of the construction industry and the duties required of the commercial team. They will support more experienced members of the commercial team in the undertaking of commercial administrative duties such as subcontractor administration, change management and other commercially-related administration tasks. What youll be doing As a Commercial Assistant, your main responsibilities are as follows:Analytical Thinking & Decision Making

  • Understanding of basic ordering of information and data checks
  • Cost Engineering
  • Gather data & carry out research on current construction costs under supervision
  • Measure, record & value work supervised in accordance with appropriate rules and procedures
  • Planning
  • Record progress on site and help prepare and maintain records
  • Cost Management
  • Use the companys ERP System
  • Collation of Cost and Value Information
  • Procurement
  • Ensure consistent format of subcontract orders issued by the Highways business
  • Maintain current register of policies for incorporation in to all subcontract orders
  • Review subcontract orders to ensure that they incorporate current versions of policies and provide challenge to projects where subcontract orders are not aligned to the current versions
  • Administer resilience model process and issue weekly updates to Highways business
  • Administer Highways Project Health Check process monthly
  • Support commercial teams in administration of Jaggaer e-sourcing system
  • Maintaining subcontract records for management form
  • Collect information required to specify procurement requirements
  • Record and document information including registration of interest
  • Understand the steps / documentation required
  • Commercial Management
  • Support commercial teams in administration of CEMAR contract management system
  • Collation of cost and value information
  • Measurement of works and provide information on subcontractors performance
  • Managing subcontract order value process
  • Supports digitalisation
  • Development, Recruitment and Retention
  • Administering ordering of equipment for new starters
  • Maintain a Personal Development Plan
