Job Description

Production Team LeaderSaint Gobain Industrial Ceramics - Based in Rainford, St HelensAt Saint-Gobain people matter to us, and we try to show that every day. Our engineered ceramics and refractory products are manufactured to the highest industrial standards anddeliver enhanced performance while minimizing environmental impact. Our products can be found in a range of applications and industries, from power stations to defence.The primary purpose of the role is to coordinate the department ensuring all team members understand their contributions required. The Team Leader will be responsible for coordinating the daily and weekly performance of the team. We are looking for an accomplishedand supportive Team Leader able to lead a team of up to 16 production staff in a fast paced, engineering driven manufacturing environment ensuring safety within the department, and the achievement of productions goals.Key Accountabilities:

  • Attends weekly Production meetings
  • Monitors the standards of performance within the team to ensure quality and OTIF (On Time In Full) is achieved.
  • Updates the backlog on a daily basis
  • Contribute to the development of a behavioural safety culture through ensuring the team record all accidents and near misses and actively take part in hazard spotting, SMAT discussions and other safety initiatives
  • Takes part in thorough investigations for any near miss or accident which occurs within the department and makes suggestions for corrective actions.
  • Regularly takes part in SMAT Safety audits on site,
  • Monitoring and updating of SOPs / training lessons and Risk Assessments
  • Continuous Improvement is an ongoing concern through Quick kaizen projects
  • Runs the Daily Control meetings within the department to communicate daily plans and issues.
  • An active member of all WCM projects within the department
  • Ensures department works to and performs monthly 5S audits
  • Works closely with other departments with regards to manning and any quality concerns
  • Stand in Pattern inspection role for plaster shop and Green inspection role for Cast Department
  • Ensure compliance with Saint-Gobain company policies and procedures (Health, Safety, Environment, quality and HR)
What kind of person are we looking for
  • Good levels of numeracy and literacy would be required.
  • Moderate level of IT skills
  • Continuous Improvement / Six Sigma qualification OR experience
  • Safety Awareness Trained (IOSH)
  • Risk Assessment and Risk Control knowledge
  • Experience of leading similar size team in a busy production environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proven ability to build and maintain good working relationships.
