Job Description

Support Workers for 16-18 Care Leavers ServiceSalary from £10.50 per hr + £70 sleep allowanceDAYS: 7:15am -8.30pmFULL SHIFT: 7:15am -10pm & Sleep 7.30am finish WAKE NIGHTS: 8.15pm-7.30am LOCATION: QuintonProSkillz are recruiting a team of day and night Support Workers to work in a newly opened 2 bedded 16-18 Care Leavers residential home in the Quinton area.This Care Leavers unit has recently opened its doors and has been refurbished to a very high standards, so is now accepting referrals for 2 low risk 16-18 year olds that need support with independent living skills and accessing training, education and servicesto meet their daily needs.The home is ideally looking for NVQ 3 Childrens and Young People support workers but it is not essential, as long as applicants are willing to work towards the NVQ 3 Qualification and have some transferable experience working with young people; and havea passion to encourage, motivate and care for young people, as well as maintain firm boundaries and identify any concerns young people face in todays society.The ideal candidate must have the following:

  • NVQ 3 or Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent preferred but not essential
  • previous experience working with care leavers from 16-18 in residential care settings
  • the ability to work independently and as part of a team,
  • Support colleagues manage behaviours that may challenge,
  • Support and participate in young peoples social, life-long learning plans and recreational activities in line with care/ support plans, trips out and holidays.
  • Support Workers are expected to act as a Key worker to specified individual young person, taking on responsibility for specified areas of care and support. This includes ensuring all medical needs are met and supporting the young person to advocate his/herown needs and wishes.
  • Support Workers are expected to encourage young people to maintain acceptable levels of personal and environmental hygiene.
