Job Description

Here at HM Land Registry, we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Service Designer to join the team based at any of our 14 office locations.This is a permanent position and can be full-time, job share, or part-time. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £38,552 per annum (Croydon £42,099).Due to Covid-19, the role will initially be home-based so an induction and training will be carried out remotely, with full support from the team. Once safe to do so, you will be located in your home office.Birkenhead, North West, CH41 6DU : Croydon, London, CR0 2AQ : Coventry, West Midlands, CV1 3BH : Durham, North East, DH1 5TR : Weymouth, South West, DT4 9TT : Gloucester, South West, GL1 1DQ : Kingston upon Hull, Yorkshire and the Humber, HU2 8JN : Leicester, East Midlands, LE3 5DR : Nottingham, East Midlands, NG1 7AU : Peterborough, Eastern, PE1 1QF : Plymouth, South West, PL6 5WS : Preston, North West, PR4 1TE : Swansea, Wales, SA7 9FQ : Telford, West Midlands, TF3 4LRAs a Senior Service Designer, you will support, coach and mentor our in-house designers to design accessible public services that are simple enough for everyone to use that work across multiple channels, devices, browsers and platforms.You will contribute to the creation of, or changes to, transactions, products and content across both digital and offline channels provided by different parts of the government and the design of an end-to-end journey of a service helping users complete their goal and deliver organisational policy and process intent. You will also contribute to the development of design concepts and interpret research, incorporating this into designs.In addition, you will develop prototypes and iterative designs based on evidence of user needs and organisational outcomes and will push back where user research suggests a more user-focused way forward to achieve business outcomes and policy intent. You will also help government transform the way it delivers services, so they are more efficient, simpler, faster and easier to use and will actively contribute and network across HM Land Registrys design community of practice and across government communities.What we’re looking for in our Senior Service Designer:To meet the requirements of this role, you will either have relevant work experience or a degree/further education in a related discipline, including interaction, service and digital design. You will also have proven experience of creating workable prototypes and producing prototypes in code (HTML/CSS), whilst understanding the associated security, accessibility and version control.You have evidence of context-based design and have been responsible for translating complex needs, producing effective designs based on available information and research. In addition, you are user-focused with demonstrable experience of understanding user’s needs and translating user stories to propose design approaches or services, whilst having the ability to share best practice and coach others.Benefits of becoming our Senior Service Designer: We offer very competitive terms, conditions, and benefits.
